Glamorous Inspiration

Inspiration for decorating your apartment can come from anywhere.  One place that I am currently obsessed with (to put it mildly) is a blog called This is Glamorous.  Everyday it shows things that are just beautiful to look at.  Every interior I see I want to be mine!

Today’s project idea came from the archives of this blog - a vintage-framed chalkboard.

How gorgeous would this be in an entryway, or in a kitchen listing out what you need from the supermarket?  Frames can be found anywhere, but the best ones can be found at yardsales and consignment shops, often with less then desirable images of ducks or lakes or something.  But you can easily pop out that canvas and insert a plain piece of wood painted with chalkboard paint (an inexpensive version from Kmart can do the trick).   The trick is making the chalkboard look used and vintage to match the frame, so once your paint is dry scribble on it with chalk and erase a few times so that there isn’t such a start contrast between the worn frame and super-black paint.

Supplies: (in addition to basic tools/hardware)
Frame: varies $12+
Thin wood backing (can get cut to size at Home Depot): $10
Chalkboard Paint: $10
Chalk: $1
